Hello, GAPPED FPV

In-game view of a living room at night

GAPPED FPV started the way a lot of FPV projects start: flying whoops around the house, crashing into the same door frame again and again, and wanting a way to train that felt like the real thing.

Measured, not tweaked

The flight model lives in its own C++ core, separate from the game engine. It runs at a fixed 2 kHz step and it is deterministic: the same stick inputs give exactly the same flight, bit for bit, on any PC. That is what makes exact replays and ghosts possible — and, later, leaderboards nobody can fake.

It was calibrated piece by piece against the blackbox log of a real whoop and five real laps of a circuit that exists twice: in a real house and, the same, in the game. What was measured there went into every whoop of the hangar — nine real micro drones today.

Maps full of gaps

The first maps are two real flats, modelled from photos and floor plans, with light baked in Blender Cycles for day and night: the gaps you learn to hit are gaps that exist. Then came a living-room circuit, an abandoned factory with a chimney you can fly up from the inside, a pine park built for freestyle and a city square.
